Google Earth - Forth & Clyde Canal

If you have Google Earth installed, you can click on the link above and it will fly you to an aerial view of canal locks and bridges on the Forth & Clyde Canal, in Scotland. Glasgow is the best resolution with very clear images from 100m high.

Look for the Aeroplane - and its contrails - as it passes over the canal to the west of Twechar Bridge.

Here is a view of Set Fair, on the Norfolk Broads before I brought her up to the Clyde.

If you don't have Google Earth, you will need to install it first (available at http://earth.google.com).

Google Earth streams the world over wired and wireless networks enabling users to virtually go anywhere on the planet and see places in photographic detail. This is not like any map you have ever seen. This is a 3D model of the real world, based on real satellite images combined with maps. You can zoom from space to street level instantly and then pan or jump from place to place, city to city and country to country.

Tips - Using Google Earth you can scroll your mouse wheel to zoom in and out. Left click and hold to drag the map.

In the 'Temporary Places' menu on the left click the + sign to expand the menu and see all the places I put in. Double click an entry to go to one.

In the top right of the Google Earth screen, move the horizontal slider to the right, to fly along the canal. Rotate the compass to choose your direction. Enjoy!
