John Rushworth's hobby of motorcycles
I've been motorcycling for 45 plus years. I've dabbled and ridden in trials, enduro, trail, rally and road. My highlights have been a silver in the
SSDT, a
14th in the
Cambrian rally against much larger bikes - and coming joint equal fastest out of 800 folks at the final of the Chas Mortimer road race school
at
Donington park, where along with friends I hatched the
Gilera Network.
I spent some wonderful times in California riding with the then No 10 in the world and US trials champion. I have written technical and adventure articles for
Trail Bike and Enduro (TBM) magazine. Working for the Clews family at
CCM was great fun. I also developed a patent for
an Aprilia trials bike which was tested by a world enduro champion. He didn't want to get back on his factory bike! Recent fun has been a re-visit to
Baja in
Mexico, the
Atlas and Sahara in Morocco along with a
Trans Spain and Portugal off road trip which commenced in
Andorra.
I've had about 46 motorcycles. I started the RIDES.Org.UK
list some years ago but I now point the
URL at the wonderful work and charity, that has come about from my friend
Simon Milward's ride. He died on the last leg of
his 5 year round the world trip, before I could ride down to Africa to meet him on my
overland TTR. Here are a few links to
Simon's work and charity along with a few of my own trips and more recent motorcycles.
